What is a Sun Pipe or Solar Tube?
As an energy consultant based in Croydon, I often provide advice to both commercial and residential clients on a wide range of energy solutions. Whilst producing a Energy Performance Certificate, EPC, for a client in Bromley I was asked ‘What is a Sun Pipe or Solar Tube?’
It is simply what it says, a highly polished tube through which daylight is piped to areas of the dwelling where natural light is either not available of is limited. Some example of this are internal WC’s or bathrooms, loft spaces or typical Victorian house hallways
Whilst this is not a recommendation Solatube provide a comprehensive set of information for those with both Domestic and/or Commercial applications
A number of styles are available, from around £250, some of which include integrated lighting for night time usage
Sample Installation method, external light source detail and internal diffuser options
